Tysen is a 5th generation Norwalk resident. He attended Cranbury, West Rocks, and Norwalk High School. After, graduating from the University of Connecticut, in Storrs, with a degree in Communications, he went on to work for Verizon Wireless and GE Capital in corporate sales, until deciding to start his own landscape business in 1999.  Tysen and his wife Maria have raised four boys together, ranging in age from 18-24. Over the years, he has been involved in many organizations in Norwalk. He has taken part in Americares, Big Brother Big Sister, the school board at All Saints Catholic School, coaching youth flag football, youth basketball, and baseball. He served for 11 years as the head of grounds and Vice President of the Norwalk Little League. On top of running his business, he also coaches freshman boys basketball and assists with the varsity at Wilton High School. He would like the opportunity to serve his community in a political fashion. His parents and grandparents were very active in Norwalk as well. The flag pole at Calf Pasture Beach is dedicated to his grandfather and lists the many civic organizations he was a part of.  Tysen wants to continue his family’s legacy of public service.
