Nicole Hampton has been a Norwalk resident for the past 15 years. She is a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, who empowers both students and adults, by helping them to manage their stress and anxiety. Nicole works with Norwalk’s local prevention council, as well as, school counselors to ensure students have the resources needed to assist in a time of crisis and/or when seeking services for mental health and/or addiction. As a community liaison, she also works to connect Norwalk’s youth and their families to the appropriate level of care, while breaking down any barriers they may have to get there.
Prior to working with Norwalk’s youth, Nicole was a Peer Engagement Specialist for the Community Care Team and Frequent Visitor’s Care Team at Norwalk Hospital, as part of Nuvance Health.
In 2021, Senator Bob Duff appointed Nicole to serve on the State’s Task Force To Study Peer Services. She was also voted onto the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Certification Board, and in 2022 was selected for the DMHAS Peer Certification Advisory Committee. Nicole is a community-minded leader, with a passion to help others by constantly planting seeds of hope, so that all know it’s ok to not feel ok, that help is available, and to never be ashamed to ask for help.
Nicole has a daughter attending Norwalk High School and is also the Co-Chair of the African American Parents Club.
